i cant figure out how you can prefer modernization instead of keeping the old.
Old scissor gates are so much more fascinating and exiting than new doors. New automatic doors sucks, they are so boring. The same with new buttons.

yes thats is really bad. But here we restore the elevator. In most cases we dont install boring automatic doors and boring new buttons in good old elevators. But it happens sometime anyways. An 1898 elevator got its original inner wood doors replaced by new automatic folding scrap. I just want to kick that crap till it breaks.

To modernize isn't too bad. In Singapore, the elevator is completely rebuilt and refurbished, leaving no trace of its history!
