"It only got worse later on during that decade when more infomercials and reality programming started gaining ground."
So true. It got worse and worse as the years passed. I also remember in the early 90s we had to put up with the "talk show" craze. Dozens of those boring things aired every single day. Some of them even aired twice a day. I recall one that STILL aired twice a day even though it was cancelled a while back after only 6 months! I FINALLY got cable tv in 1996. :-)

When I think of WPIX in 1985, I think of how that channel (among the others) was on its downhill slide. I mean, I grew up in the 1970s watching all sorts of classic tv shows and movies. But starting around 1985, cable tv was gaining a foothold in the area, and all that god stuff I grew up watching would disappear only to surface on some cable channel and never come back to free tv. 10 to midnight, forced vengeance, etc. are a couple of examples of what replaced the stuff I much prefered watching

Still hate the exorcist but for the first time it didn't scare me so much

just watched more of the videos... the Crazy Eddie's thing... I didn't know that was a real thing until recently, but I had one of those awesome tee shirts which I found at a Dollar Store when I was about 14. I wore it all the time!! I wonder if I still have it. Also, the Nestle ad... what the??? I always felt uncomfortable when that aired while my parents were in the room with me. Now that I hear 1:38 again, I wonder if instead of TMBG, it's Devo, or at least Mark Mothersbaugh. He would!! :)

Wonderful Nostalgia for children of the 80's everywhere. @ 1:38 is that They Might Be Giants singing the ad jingle? I'm kidding, but it really wouldn't surprise me. I love them!!

80's had the best movies better than the movies today!!!!

Ah, good old Jerry "Crazy Eddie" Carroll at 2:28...the "Sweet Dreams" campaign proved once and for all that you could sell the "wrapper" more than the chocolate itself...Unilever eventually bought out J.H. Filbert's interest in "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter"; they market it today.

I almost pock my eyes out with that shitty Ramagon toy I think I was 8yrd.
:20-:35 - You'll be missed, Mr. Stang...
1:05-1:35 - PIX V/O Vet, Doug Paul, months before he was officially with PIX.
2:05-2:15 - That dang Cats ad I've seen umpteen times, living in the NY area. :P
7:22-7:52 - "I can't believe is not butter!" Meh, sounded better coming from Fabio. :P
8:20-8:24 - "Duncan Hines bakes with that Lock-The-Bowl--*RRRRRRING!!!*" WHUUUUUUUT? o.O
9:27-10:01 - Perhaps, the moneyshot of the video; the (incomplete) WPIX Sunday Morning Movie intro of the Mid-80's!
