@msr48 why do people listen to stuff and then waste time cutting down the artists... if you don't like it, move on. i have to say that this recording isn't the best quality, being there, seeing this was one of the best concert experiences i've ever had. and thanks to warren hellman it was free. she is one of the best female performers, and he is the most wonderful singer of all time. it was an honor to be there, especially so close!!
This does not do anything for me. I loved Sandy Denny's voice on the original. Allison Krause sounds like she has cotton balls stuck in her throat and she needs to cough them up. It makes her sound like Michael McDonald.
Being a massive fan of the Zeppers, and loving the Plant/Krauss thang I really like this. SOme of the Mandolin chords are a bit 6/7th to justice to the harmonies but that just makes it more fun.
Yeah, Ann and Nancy Wilson own the live performance version of BOE. I love LZ but seriously have you seen these two women just bring the house down with their version. Dear God, it is something to behold.
I am sorry but Alison does not have the beautiful vocal quality that Sandy had. Not even close. Way too flat. I like her in other songs, but this is not one for her. And what is with that mandolin player? Seriously! Hitting half of the notes right does not make you great. And Robert, get some vocal lessons in or just practice. What happened to your range? You all just killed this song.
A CA BAR SMOG MECHANIC LAUNCHED A BLONDIE FAN BACKSTAGE@SDSU COORS AMPITHEATER JIMMY PAGE CIRCA 1988 THAT KIND'A LOOKED LIKE ALLISON KRAUSS---IT WASN'T A RICORCHETTE WAS IT?
I THINK, if Zeppelin (Page) would consider back up singers and additional musicians for a reunion tour then PLANT would be more receptive. I think PLANT does not have the same confidence as "front man: and likes experimentation with additional vocalists and musicians.
I don't think this is a negative thing.
They've already DONE the 4 piece band thing.
Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham (Jason) might work with an additional creative twist....additional musicians.
I think they are outstanding together. I grew up in the 70's playing Zep and Heart in various bands and Ann Wilson is my favorite female singer but lets be real, Alison Krauss never embarrases herself. I saw Union Station a number of years ago and they were nothing short of humbling.
NICE!!
