The finale and end credits music suite for the fan-designed "Mario Kart Wii: Royal Prix" is finally finished! This piece took me nearly two weeks of pretty consistent work.

If you enjoy this, you know the drill XD!

Meanwhile, because of the length, I thought I'd provide some brief notes. The piece presents and develops "Dry Bowser's Waltz" in a happy, major key (and it is no longer a creepy dance but a heroic melody (in 4/4 time), and an uplifting motif (the "Victory" fanfare) which is the game's main theme:

0:07 "Victory" fanfare / intro
0:15 "Dry Bowser's Waltz" melody (performed by voices and guitar)
0:42 "Victory" motif

0:56 "Waltz" development (on two electric guitars)
1:23 "Victory" development (duet between guitar/rock organ)
1:36 "Victory" variation (on acoustic guitar, then strings/piano)

1:57 "Waltz" melody (violin etc)
2:21 "Victory" motif (slightly varied)
2:26 Segue to contrasting middle section

2:28 'Scherzando' section (this theme will be heard elsewhere soon ;p)
2:55 "Victory" development
3:12 Transition (quote of Super Mario Bros. Theme!)

3:14 "Waltz" (electric guitar, orch.)
3:41 "Victory" (elec. guitar, orch.)
3:47 "Victory" variations (piano, acoustic guitars duet)
4:01 "Victory" (elec. guitar/full orch.)

Thank you for your continued support and interest. I have read and continue to read and enjoy everyone's nice (and constructive) comments! Thanks again!

  • This is really good! By the way, do I hear some "Rainbow Planet" in there?

  • Well it's the other way round really: the "End Credits" theme (my fictitious main theme that I haven't made a title sequence out of yet) can be heard in "Rainbow Planet". It can also be heard in my "Finish First" fanfare.

    Good ear!

  • This is truly amazing! I love how all this sounds! Your an amazing composer, and I liked how you put a piece of the MarioKart 64 ending song in it. Both this and the orie from the game sound good.

  • Thanks and yeah I used some chords from the original MK64 ending, although I didn't really realize it until I had already written it lol, but hey I thought it was more than appropriate and not just a copy =p

  • That's true, I just wonder why they don't do music like this anymore in Mario games, I mean look at MarioKart64 there were alot of great songs where they actually put alot of effort into it, on the GameCube version, they had it going but to me most of it was alittle soft pitched for me to tell the tune, in the Wii they brought that back, but this is better. :)

  • Yeah, the GameCube in general was a bit weak musically for Mario, but I really think they've come back unbelievably strong on the Wii, with Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii. I gotta say Asuka Ohta NAILED that kart score. Brilliant, although not a big fan of her 'ending' themes (to this or to NSMB).
