Take a 5 minute "first person video-hike" of the 7.4 mile South Kaibab Trail from Grand Canyon's South Rim down to the Phantom Ranch. Use SK456D in SEARCH to locate the video again later. A 3 hr. 39 min. 4-DVD set of the entire trail (step-by-step in real time) is available from www.TrailVista.com.

  • Hallo Andreas, if you mean vertigo, that can be dangerous on any mountain. But if you mean fear of heights (Acrophobia), that depends on how much one can tolerate. For the most part, the trail is steep and only moderately exposed, except at mile marker 3.2 (down), just below Skeleton Point, where there is a short section of drop-offs. Go to Clip #12 of the South Kaibab Trail (down) YouTube Video at my website TrailVista to walk it. Greetings to your dad Rainer and family! Peter W.

  • Oh yeah! The Kebab trail was awesome!

  • I went down kalibab 11/18/11 at 1pm and reached the colorado at 5pm stayed for 40 minutes and started my climb back up, then an hour into- my flashlight gave (pitch black) with a snow forcast and low water to worry about. I finally made it out at 11:40 pm with the help of a man that caught up to me at the Ooh aah point around 10pm. Pretty scary and awesome, the climb was grueling and I could bearly walk for the next 2 days. I loved it.
