This is an application developed by CYPAC (http://www.cypac.co.jp/vodi/index.html) to help people who are blind, who have low vision, or who have dyslexia, to read printed materials in the Digital Accessible Information SYstem (DAISY) specialized format for people who have reading disabilities. This is not exactly what I would use on a daily basis, as it has too many restrictions (i.e. no NLS or RFB&D support), but it's a step in the right direction. I was told by the DAISY consortium (www.daisy.org), that one of their members was working on a better ap that would be out soon. I'm looking forward to it.

  • I've been wondering about this since the iPhone/iPod Touch became accessible, This is good, but does it support DAISY 3?

  • Sadly, no, it does not support DAISY 3.

  • If they get their act together and include support for DAISY 3, this will indeed be a great app.

DAISY is great, you can even create your own DAISY content in MS Word. But I doubt this app will support MS Word created DAISY books.

That brings us to the question, where are you going to get books for this app?

Another interesting iPhone/iPod Touch related development is: blio e-reader

This mainstream e-book service promises to also be accessible on the PC, iPhone and eventually more devices.

  • i got to tell thecircuit123 about it gd vid

  • That's neat. Nice video. I have actually broken down and bought an iPhone and I must admit it's the best out-of-box phone for us in the visually impaired community. This Daisy app is cool, but I wish they would support NLS books. Maybe some day soon.

  • Your screen looks great and "normal" to me! :) Thank you for this video!! I"m so excited about checking this out more!!
