Thanks for the reply. Strange enough, I barely see or hear Chinese court music. I remember reading a book of Japanese music and it explained that certain rites of this tradition are preserved in Japan (and Korea) and have vanished in China.

@Chichiri520 A-ak and Gagaku are represented by the same Chinese characters ("Ya-yue" in modern Mandarin). Ancient Chinese court music survives through A-Ak and Gagaku,
