In Windows XP it is not uncommon to have experienced a corrupt registry or a missing DLL file, or having a blue screen of death. So best prepare yourself by backing up your system files on a regular basis. Prevent a disaster and having to restore your entire operating system, just backup your files, so you can restore them if needed later.

hey pcwiz
i was wondering
i have a harddrive partitioned into two drives
if i back up all my files onto the spare drive i have, and format
will that format my c:/ drive? or both drives?
beacsue i want to format my c drive then just put everything back on..

@nptw0er yes you can do that, because your other drive is on D:\ for example. So as long as you dont touch the D:\ or as long as you dont accidently wipte out the entire drive and specify only the C:\ half then the D:\ remains. Be careful
