  • great sounding playing and feel. totally groovy. whats up with the red circle thing on the ride cymbal?

  • It is a rented kit. Studio E at The Studio on 30th Street in Manhattan! I am psyched because I am getting my own rehearsal space. Well, sharing it, but still!! Casper

  • @sweetfly66 Hey there, I agree that being able to create a big difference between accent and non accented notes is important. But once this skill has been gained it's a musical choice how much the dynamic difference should be.If you watch Chapin himself perform these exersises the difference between the two is suprisingly little (in his later years any way)When dealing with music I don't think it's right to say only one way of playing is correct

  • @170adamb ... one more thing .. If you concentrate on the accents ( once you get the independance ) you will find how hard these patterns swing ... all of a sudden you will say , wow i sound like a jazz drummer .... but this guy`s video sort of just sounds like a drum corps guy playing broken triplet patterns ..no accents , no swing

  • @170adamb ... exercises can always be played better ... in my opinion this example needs to be more accurate dynamically ... there needs to be more difference between the accented notes and the unnaccented notes ... his time was good , the notes were accurate but Chapin made those accents for a reason ... i bet if you listened to someone like Peter Erskine do this exercise it wouldnt sound anything like this guy and it would be because of the dynamics

  • great demo, im working on this book at the moment, I can't believe some people have to find fault with a pretty flawless example of how these exersises should sound, cheers Adam

  • Nice! I wish YouTube existed when I was a kid when i had more time to practice! I could see how those exercises in that book were supposed to sound!! Young students today are so lucky

  • I hate your ride cymbal.

  • I've had that Chapin book for like 6 years and haven't even gotten through 5 pages. This encourages me to break it out and work on it some more. Excellent work on those straight 8ths with swing pattern!!!

  • are you playing on a kevlar head????

  • Very tidy, I don't have it with me to check accuracy but it's certainly good!

  • same problem as in your other page 22 video ... you are playing bar 14 wrong . In the other video you were playing the quarter note triplet pattern on the wrong side of the beat . On this video you start bar 14 too early . You start it on beat 4 of bar 13 .
