Those things are a little bit of a challenge to carry now (due to the shape mostly), IMO, it must have been absolute hell to carry them up hill.

Awesome! I work at Mountain Creek Waterpark (formally Action Park) now and I can only say, its not the same as it used to be. I miss Action Park!

True, Action Park was quite the experience - drunkenness was a right of passage and beyond the waterslides there was even motorworld where people were able to race in the cars without speed governors. But on the other hand Mountain Creek has some good new rides like High Anxiety and Alpine Pipeline (new for 2009). And lastly the rafts are automatically brought up for Colorado River, unlike in Action Park. I go every year to Mountain Creek.

Not only that but a lot of the waterworld rides/attractions are still there - in some form - some rides unchanged, some not.
I went to Mountain Creek last summer and can swear that the ghost of Action Park is still haunting the site.

Yeah Intrawest when purchasing the site thought that they could really resurrect the rides which they did very successfully... and now that they've built High Anxiety the park is even better.

Yeah they don't sell alcohol on the grounds anymore which is too bad... you can always pregame... then again they have ejected people for being drunk. And of course the staff at Mountain Creek actually care unlike the underage and sometimes under the influence Action Park staff. I was only 7 years old when Action Park saw its last season so I never went there, but it sounded like a lot of fun.

I was turning 7 that fall. I went there either that summer or the year before, but I remember it well... ouch.
The action never stopped as far as I know, especially evident on the Colorado Rapids ride. 4 grown people on that raft and you'll feel like you're in a blender... the raft tries to climb the wall, you buck very violently, and heads collide frequently.
Just before riding The kamikaze, the lifeguard told me that somebody had broken his back the week before. Talk about spooking me.

Yeah the Kamikaze I think is one of the weaker attractions at Mountain Creek I haven't even been on it since the first time I went there. I always wonder how hard it was to haul the Colorado River rafts up by hand at Action Park before Mountain Creek installed a modified ski lift to haul them up.
