Right now, I'm a little frazzled with Super Mario RPG Revolution, while unsure what to do about the Hyphy Movement, the San Francisco Bay Area residents who prove that it doesn't deserve to be called the "Yay Area", the shallow girls who would say "wanna suck my pee" just to mock me, and the Oakland rioter. So now I'm LPing Battalion Wars? Why? Because it needs a proper LP.

Just like Bonus Mission 1, Bonus Mission 2 uses the same map as its linking mission--in this case, Invasion Force. But, of course, you're playing as another involved army and the unit layout and objectives are different. This time, you're playing as Xylvania--yep, the bad guys--with your CO as none other than Kaiser Vlad himself, who wants to trap Tundra, but to do that, the Transport Helicopters have to be destroyed before they can get the chance to get away. If you take longer than 10 minutes, any remaining Transport Helicopters will start getting away. But the mission shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes, because Tundra suffers general matchup disadvantage, a rarity for the player in Battalion Wars 1, not so much in Battalion Wars 2. The real problem occurs if you want a good rank, because you have to flat out ROUT in a not so lenient Perfect Speed time limit, which won't be easy with the thick infantry density. The buildings near the south bridge provides a hotspot for this, as there are plenty of infantry to make the job annoying. And the northwest Transport Helicopter is also guarded by several Light Tanks, making it a particular pain.

By the way, while Bonus Mission 2 isn't canon, it does have some interesting defeat dialogue. If you get routed, Vlad points out that your defeat is embarassing because the Xylvanians outnumbered the enemy 10 to 1, which they basically do in canon, not so much here but he does have a point when you match up nicely, so the level of failure required for getting routed would require, as Vlad puts it, "the stuff of legend." Meanwhile, if a Transport Helicopter escapes, Nova declares that he will soon gather survivors to storm a place called the Vladstag. Hmm.....

  • I guess indirectly this is Ubel's chance to redeem himself story wise? (reference based joke since Ubel doesn't talk, but he's the guy who needs to redeem himself in front of the Kaiser according to the last video).

Being this is the bonus video and you have done the previous one last, I wonder what's next for the Frontier and who the next wave is?

  • @MarioMastar

Ubel pretty much functions as a workhorse. And he shows no signs of being The Starscream in BW1 or BW2. Maybe he could do something in BW3, but I wouldn't know how that game's story will play out. At least he gets epic as far as his character status goes in BW2.

  • This mission, I love! It has my favorite army, plus in enormous numbers!

  • @MasterKnightDH Hehe! So basically Ubel is just a character who'll never really get spot light, but always be the "bumbling villian"? He doesn't seem like he'd get much of a promotion (espeically knowing how villians never tend to promote their underlings). I'd say "poor Ubel", but...after killing the Czar there, I can't do much more than pity him.

  • Aha ha ha. I almost wish that mission was canon... Almost. Nevertheless, things are starting to pick up, now... The Vladstag... Hah.
