Reciting the Buddha's name every day in a recitation session, we are planting the seeds of Buddhahood. Each recitation sows a seed; ten recitations sow ten seeds. If you recite a million times a day, you plant that many seeds, and one day they will sprout. Just recite; don't worry about having a scattered mind.
Oh really?? What I just said was a simple fact. This is why early Buddhist architecture doesn't depict the Buddha as a man. Why do you think that old saying goes, "when you see the Buddha, kill the Buddha"
i think you misunderstood the saying. You don't literally kill him. You seek the Buddha from within. Those who seek the Buddha from the outside won't ever find one.
Statues are built to replicate the body of Buddha. Though it not meant to be worship, it a tool for people to see and build their faith upon and develop affinity with Buddhism. Remember there is a saying "faith is the mother of all virtues."
Blowing up Buddha statues are grave offense. Its karma is hell. But i think you know that.
Lol.. obviously it doesn't mean to KILL HIM.. it means to stop thinking of an Enlightened Being as being something you can objectify, because Buddhism is to realize Emptiness.
