A mechanism built by Michael Hurley as part of the Deployable Adaptive Structures Research Project at the Royal College of Art (Department of Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery). Vertical movement: the structure contracts and expands vertically because it is contracted and extended horizontally and has the freedom to move up and down the metal rods on either end.
