Note to All Viewers: This video is for the sole purpose of sharing the experience of the magnificent music of Vangelis and the Greyhound dog. This video is not being sold nor will it ever be offered for sale. This is a labour of love based on the "reasonable use" provisions of the Copyright Act.

A special thank you to Sarah at www.artofthegreyhound.com for allowing me to use her wonderful sculptures and handsome "smiling" greyhound. Please visit her site to view more of her amazing pieces.

Greyhound history dates back at least 4,000 years. Originally from Egypt, they were taken by traders to Britain, Europe and the Orient. They were valued as hunters of such prey as gazelle, deer, fox, and rabbit. The sport of Greyhound racing (chasing a rabbit-like lure) has been around since the 16th Century, and some participants have been clocked at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. While racing takes advantage of this breeds natural ability, it is the fate of these beautiful animals when their racing days are over that has necessitated the organization of Greyhound rescues and adoptions around the world. These wonderful dogs, once rehabilitated with lots of love and patience, become well-behaved and much loved members of the family.

  • The video refers us to the AKC or the CKC for further information. But the Kennel Clubs have absolutely nothing to do with racing greythounds.

  • @GeorgeStJohnQuimby The kennel clubs will have information on both registered, legitimate greyhound breeders and greyhound rescue organizations for anyone who may be interested in adopting a racing greyhound.

  • Love the statue at 3:04!

  • @BobbyfromPepper You can see more of the artist's works on her website. The website address is in the video notes. YT won't let me post it here for some reason. Thanks for watching.

  • I'm in the US and I have been involved with Greyhound Rescue groups for 20 years. They are one of the most magnificent breeds in the world. This video was one of the most beautiful that I've ever seen. Excellent work and a wonderful tribute!

  • Thank you so much SkyWolf7! I haven't had the opportunity to share my home with one - yet! - but have known many. Yes, they definitely are magnificent. Thanks again. ~~ Lynn

  • I am sorry, I think you missunderstood. I AM NOT BREEDING, NOR RACING ANY! I have a grey (adopted, nearly starved to death by his "loving"trainer), so what? Grey racing is business, it has nothing to do with love or friendship. You do not give your friends up when they stop running fast enough. Well, they still enjoy the running, no? Why not keep them and enjoy them running even if they are slower and make no money? I don' t think you know what love is.

  • I love my grey soooo much. They have so much personality, warm, big hearts and soulful eyes.

  • Plus my grey and i bumped into his trainer for the first time in 5 years a few weeks ago, he was visiting the charity(he doesnt believe in euthanasing his dogs), as a nervous brindle he went all daft, it was lovely to see. And sean gave me lots of tips on how to deal with his stiff joints..having worked in the biz it was loverly to meet a man that really cared about his dogs!!!

  • Geys were born to run and love to run, and we are very thankful in this day and age that so many trainers realise that adoption is the more humane, cheaper way forward....and suprisingly watching the recognition on a greys face after being away from its trainer

  • 5 Anti-Greyhound zealots dislike this video.

  • @TaylorYazz I see english composition is an issue for you.

  • I have 2 adopted greyhounds and this video brought me to tears for the majestic beauty you have shown in this loving piece of work.I would not be with out these 2 loving family members in my life.

  • We have adopted one, and love him to death.

  • racing is exploitation
