Driver thinks we should be on cycle lane

This guy in the silver Honday (YA07 USU, I think) felt I should be on the bike path, and was quite happy to use his vehicle to push me towards the kerb to make his point. I'm not so happy about it.

I wasn't using it because I'm in no way obliged to, and it doesn't go where I was heading! If I had been on it, it would have been very difficult to turn right at the junction we come to at the end of the video. Lots of lovely paint, but you can't actually get to where you're going if you use it!

How can you say that the cycle path doesn't go where you want to? You're cycling along beside it!

@cxthompson OK - it follows where we're going for perhaps a hundred yards. In that distance, we'd have to give way and bump up and down the kerbs at two junctions, which we can avoid by staying on the road - quicker and easier. I've left the clip as long as I have to show the junction at the end, where we're turning right. You can't turn right from the cycle path, you have to join the road to get in the turning-right lane, but no dropped kerb is provided to help you do that.

Typical response, because a person doesn't understand why somebody else is doing something, they assume the other person is doing something wrong.

the action of this idiot motorists breaks rules in the highway code... no signalling to pull over, pulling over dangerously in front of cyclist, breaking needlessly to cause obstruction to other road user. you've done absolutely nothing wrong by not using cycle lane.

i don't understand why drivers (I am one as well as a cyclist) don't understand that cycle lanes are optional for cyclists. The highway code doesn't say you need to use them. It even recommends using the roads if going at higher speeds on a bike. After speaking with the Police about a couple of incidents of dangerous driving I am of the persuasion that I'd have cycled into the back of this idiot (with it being on film) and made an insurance claim and police report. Police can action a collision

I've had similar, the guy behind leant on his horn then passed me within 6 inches, to prove that i'd be safer using the cycle lane? I was on the road cos I wanted the next right turn as it happens, so did he, into his drive, we had a chat. But strangely, if I use the MANDATORY cycle lane I have to dodge illegal parking and get more left hooks than using the road.
