It depends on whet you are going to be running. If it is open wheel like an E-Maxx, it isn't to bad filling up with sand. If it is a closed wheel like a Slash, I wouldn't. I have run my Slash 2x4 and it wasn't even worth taking, no traction. Ive also run my 4x4 Slash. It does a lot better but fills up with sand almost immediately. That causes excessive weight and makes the motor overheat very quickly.
As far as cleaning it, if it is a waterproof setup, I just use a hose. But when I get home I completely dismantle the entire truck. I mean everything. I rebuild the diff's, the tranny, shocks, everything. I seriously take every screw out and clean every piece. I also clean and or replace the bearings if needed. It is a lot of work believe me, almost not worth it. I will only be taking one truck next beach trip, only problem is deciding which one to take. Have fun.
hey im taking mine to pawleys island for xmas and i wanted to know how much sand you got in it. and how did you get it out?
