This is an odd foundation. There's no doubt that buying something "Chanel" makes you feel good. It's Chanel, you know!

Chanel Perfection Lumiere £36 for 30ml in the UK.

This comes in a glass bottle with a pump that squirts out less product than I thought. A good thing.

The texture is light but goes on to provide good medium/full coverage.

The finish is matte. Very matte - which i found set to a slightly powdery finish - unlike the foundation it replaced (pro lumiere) There is no shine or dewiness. This foundation will not be your best friend if you have dry skin or overly combination skin.

It contains an SPF of 10 with Titanium dioxide being the active ingredient. Please check this foundation with a flash if you're thinking of wearing it in photos.

The application requires 3 pumps with a beauty blender sponge and two with a stippling brush. Avoid a standard foundation brush as the results are not as beautiful. This dries fast so you'll need to be quick.

The major downside to for me was the scent. I found it very strong and over powering. It's full on floral! You might love it. I did not and it certainly could be problematic for sensitive skin.

This foundation did not oxidise on me. My shade was beige rose 42.

If your budget affords this and you like matte foundations you could do a lot worse than this.

On a personal note:  I would not repurchase this. While I like matte foundations the smell was totally over whelming. I hated it for this reason. I get headaches very easily that are triggered by scent and this gave me a hum dinger. Did i mention it lingers and lingers and ...

Other foundations worth considering are:

Estee Lauder double wear foundation (www.boots.com)

  • I love your new background!!!

  • i love the old Pro Lumiere and detest Perfection Lumiere...it's super close to Vitalumiere Aqua, except it seems to sit unevenly on the skin and it offers a wee bit more coverage than Aqua. Those who love Pro should stick to lift lumiere..it's full coverage demi matte, yet it has a slight glow

  • Great review! Thanks for mentioning that it has a bad scent! I can't stand scented cosmetics!

  • I'm actually quite shocked by the bad reviews. I've tried samples of this and I love it even though I have dry skin and hate matte finish. It's not a dry or cakey matte and feels like you're wearing nothing. I feel the need to purchase this big time and I think I'll end up giving into my temptations sometime soon! The only downside I've noticed is that it does oxidise, something Wayne didn't see a problem with! So it goes to show just how personal these things really are.

  • I think finding the perfect foundation is the most difficult for me. More videos like this would be amazing!! Thank you so so much

  • I have to schedule time in my day to watch your videos. =)

  • After searching for a foundation that matches my skin tone for years I finally found it in Perfection Lumiere 94 Ambre. I've always had to blend two colors together because most foundations for black women have red undertones and I have yellow. It's a little pricier than my MUFE Mat Velvet + (I have to mix two colors), but I think it's worth it. Maybe if I didn't have problems color matching I wouldn't be so excited about this foundation especially at this price. I'm very happy with this

  • @boopitslily my God, me too...sooooo annoying!!!! O.o I totally love him. IS my favorite since...today!!!

  • @NatashaAislin I followed in fleurdeforce and missglamorazzi's footsteps in purchasing the Chanel Vita Aqua Lumiere Foundation. I have combination-oily skin, prone to hyper-pigmentation and acne breakouts and I find that this water-based foundation is the only one that does it for me. It retails for around $48-53 depending, and does a really good job at providing a "second skin" effect to your skin without looking too heavy. Hope this helps! If not just ask for samples as a local counter :)

  • so helpful! thanks!!! love ur vids! x
