I've heard that's how they seperate aluminum cans from garbage on a conveyor, the cans just jump off the belt.

a good demostration of the eddy currents....! thanks for sharing...!

Thank you for showing me these experiments. They are good to know and you make them easy to repeat them at home. Thanks! ;-)

@sMartcreations2010 Thank you for the compliment...
If you like to play with magnets, Eddy Currents and Lenz´s Law are the basic knowledge and a must know!
I like to make it easy to understand and to reproduce cuz it´s the real deal...
Cheers...

Is it possible that you are demonstrating Lenz's law? An example would be when you drop a sphere magnet down a copper pipe. There is an example of Lenz's law on my you tube site as well. Great experiments! KEEP ON KEEPIN ON! SCOTT :O)

@scooterscottii Yes! The Lenz´s Force in my understanding are the Eddy Currents....
and the Lenz´s Law explains the direction of that force...

i was thinking about this yesterday playing with hard drive magnets and aluminum.
have you ever tried winding a coil around an aluminum core to see if the wires induct from the eddy?

@Magneticitist Not yet, but i think the aluminum will get warm or act like a capacitor... i should try that :-] THX
