My Yamaha CS80 synthesizer. The string sounds on this are amazing. Look at Blade Runner that was scored with a CS80 keyboard by Vangelis. This is recorded using my home video camera and its built in microphone. In the future I intend to post a much better video. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what the CS80 sounds like.

  • Great demo!

Although, I'm more interested in seeing a demo of your monster Modcan! ;-)

  • @JohnLRice I finally got the monster Modcan and you can see pictures of it on my site at myspace.com/galaxiesmerge. Also, I think Bruce will have a picture on his site and I am working on a demo for YouTube --- it is an amazing system!!!

  • Surely this is the best analog synthesizer of the history.

  • I don't know if anybody's said it yet, but the Strings on Blade Runner are pretty much exclusively Roland VP330, along with choir. Alot of people seem to be banging their heads against their walls trying to get the same sound from the CS80, and it's not possible. On the other hand, Vangelis (for all his lack of compositional skill) showed some considerable genius using the CS80's modulation facilities for all the effects sounds in that soundtrack! Gotta love independent filters!

  • A modified version of the last sound was used by ELO on Last Train to London from 1979.

  • Nice, also very nice playing!! thanks

  • I feel like I have just died and gone to heaven watching this video. Long live the CS80 forever and ever and ever and ever.

  • @lexichronicle DEEP NOTE was made using the digital machine at the CCRMA at Stanford Univ. Had a CD called the "The Digital Domain" and it was explained in the text in the box. If you can find it get it. There's some really wild stuff on that CD.

  • great... cs80v the best sint

  • @galaxiesmerge Cool and congrats! Thanks for the heads up! :-)

  • @gavincurtis Hey Gavin --- I got a bit behind on stuff :( But I will catch up ... and I am really appreciative of the offer...I might take you up on it someday :) I *love* playing the instrument and working its nuances --- it is really a brilliant machine.

  • @gavincurtis Hey Gavin - been working at things really slowly :( I ended up with a heavy workload since one of the folks at work left so I am got behind: I have to recommend you videos and your kits on eBay to everyone and anyone that owns a CS80 or even the 50 or 60 --- this is great stuff! On my workbench is my CS80 and I also have *two* DK Synergy keyboards ... as well as a T8 and Chroma (I have 2) that needs some rework ... but I will get to it ---- best is your videos and the kits!

  • did you fix it yet? Most complex of electronic instruments... still broken here. :(
