Happened onto his show at the 2010 Chicago Blues Festival last weekend. Almost walked on by, but first riff on his guitar and we were captured. Had the crowd dancing and in his hands within minutes. Great musician!

Johnny Rawls is a national treasure: a great singer/guitarist who is also a fantastic composer and arranger. Not the same tired standards, nor fancy guitar ego-trips, just superb compositions and performances. This is the very real today's Blues with a marvelous touch of Soul.
Just try "Put Your Trust In Me" (with Eddie Kirkland and Phil Guy), i. e., and be ready for some of the best black music around!
