One of the many bands that used to frequent the Warwick Castle pub in London's Portobello Road back in the late nineteen eighties, along with the likes of 'The Pogues' and 'Transvision Vamp', this video promo by one time Smiths roadie Jonathan JB Barnett is centred on one of their best tracks.

I could.....but I'm having a rare moment of sobriety and have decided to avoid boring the arse off random strangers for the night. Laters.

@KestrelF Hey Kes I just love this! Any chance you could contact retrobambino down the bottom and relay some of your trivia to him? I'm sure he'd appreciate it!!!

Just to clarify - I was a dedicated Sting-Rays fan as a teen. That's "dedicated" as in "borderline obsessive". I'm also one of the few people who bought that Charity Case single - and I have it stil, in my tiny box of worthwhile 7" singles. Along with the other noted Sting-Rays spinoff discs, the "Ug & The Cavemen" lp and the "Dwayne Ripley and his gogo set" single....and the Banamen ep.... *sigh*...I really should get out more.

Anorak alert, pop kids - The Charity Case were originally three ex-members of the Sting-Rays (Mark Hosking, Alec Palao and Joe Whitney) and vocalist She Rockola. Can't see Alec in this video, but he's on the cover of their single "Safe in the mind"/"Sandie Shaw world war"... I'll get me coat.
