@577666 My girlfriend used to have a car, and I always used public transportation. The time she spent on finding parking, on waiting in traffic, and on filling gas was far more than the time I spent waiting for a bus, tram, or train. Sure, she could get to some places that was harder for me, but in the long run she was complaining a lot more than me. She also spent around around 3 to 4 times the money.

160 passengers - reallly?????

haha, the bus is like "So long, suckers!"

the thing both have in common is they trap you in the waiting game. with public transport you have to wait in line to get on the vehicle and in youre own car you are still waiting in line in a que of traffic. so in youre own vehicle you are just a seperate but still bound by all the hassles of traffic jams which in itself is just like queing. a bicycle is actually less restricting than both. great thing with a bike is you can get off at any point wihout the hassle of traffic laws and parking

Public transports are the future!

@577666 The thing is that the more people use public transport, the better it will get - more frequent services, more routes etc. In contrast, the more people use private transport, the worse it gets - more traffic, parking shortages... and given that the world population is increasing, it makes sense surely to go for the option that improves with usage?

Yes agreed, a vivid comparison. The problem is that buses don't take you where you want to go - door to door - that is. So, the buse method also has to be supplemented by a very effective local transport network. Also, I don't want to carry my briefcase, box(es) and what have you on the bus. If it is raining, then it is very, very difficult. Additionally, people spend a lot of time waiting for buses so this costs the country a lot of man-hours, as does traffic lines.

The biggest issue with buses is changing peoples mindset. This is why so much money is being spent on dedicated bus corridors. Make it more appealing to travel by public transport. Its cheaper, more environmentally friendly, quicker (if using dedicated corridor during peak hour), air conditioned, soft comfy seats regular timetabling ~15 minutes or quicker, can read a book/watch a movie and its easy to use. Although these attributes really depend on where you are in the world.

Who wouldn't prefer it over public transport? But you can't argue that it's not cheaper. I'd rather spend money on other material possessions and food than spend it on a car.

@masterstghm Yes. Sitting in own comfortable chair is really inferior to smelling the swet of others in public transport. Welcome to very cheap sauna. Real bargain.
People CAN count. If they use cars, it means that they PREFER it over public transport.
Commuting by bus is not only a lot cheaper than car, but a lot less stressful. Think of how much you pay for insurance, license, gas, repairs, fluids, etc. for a car.

how so? it took 56 cars to do what 1 bus can do. 56 cars = traffic. 1 bus = no traffic. watch the video again. if you had 10 buses moving 75 people each, there would have to be 560 cars moving that amount of people.
