Otis sounds great. He admits he is not comfortable singing lead, but that says nothing about his talent and his beautiful voice as a lead singer, especially on ballads. Listen to Read Between the Lines, from Hear To Tempt You, or For Your Love/You Send Me from the 1995 album For Lovers Only.

Agreed, he is probably the best person to stay in the background, but not because of his lack of ability as a lead singer, but because of his ability to sing whatever part is needed when someone else leads

I like Otis Williams, he sings good in the songs that he needs to sing good in, he's not that bad.

I love watching this. He sounds every bit of his native Texas. Folks that don't like his voice should get over it. Everyone is not supposed to sound like the south east gospel and soul singers.

And Otis is losing NO sleep over not being able to sing like your favorite Temptation. He is ALIVE and healthy. STILL has a prosperous career managing and performing in HIS group. He's a millionaire. He looks freakin' good for 70! When he interviews, I see that he still has a lot of passion and spirit. Otis ain't losing NO sleep over having a "softer" voice.

All of you critisizers are just stating what Otis already knows: that he is NOT a lead singer!! SO WHAT. He doesn't have a powerhouse voice or the confidence and charisma at the forefront of the stage. He did what made him comfortable: manage from behind the scenes and make sure that 50+ years later HIS group is still going strong. That's something your favorite powerhouse voices couldn't do. GOD blessed OTIS with ambition and longevity. GOD BLESS YOU, OTIS!!

I find it ironic that his shyness only comes out on stage or in the studio while singing lead, but he had no problem telling all of the other guys what, when, how, and why to do their group business...Oh well, one never knows, do one??

I went to The Temptations concert this Friday and he admitted that he was very shy.

Otis DOES have a tendency to shy AWAY from the mike when he sings, which is annoying...If one is going to be on stage, singing or acting, then they should OWN it, unapologetically. It is easily detectable to the audience, so there is really no point in doing that...The desire is TO hear you when you sing, not NOT HEAR you when you sing...I still love this song, regardless!! He did a good job here!!

I agree. The others songs aren't bad, they're just not as special as Otis singing a song.

...and quite frankly, I bought this particular LP when it came out because of this song. It is my favorite on the album. The album is not one of my favorite Temptations albums, but it is my favorite track from it...by a long shot!
