Thank you , Kelley , for this inspiring version. We sang it to great applause [not too frequent in our Church!] at our Easter Vigil , and again today for the First Communion Class. Both times, shivers ensued - it literally can bring you to tears. Am waiting anxiously for your CD release.

One of the nicest of this marvelous Cohen song. I love the new lyrics. They bring a new meaning to the music. The original words are wonderful (references to certain Biblical stories), and I think the new ones are just as good. Many people have covered this song, including Jon Bon Jovi, which shows you how popular this song is. I can't wait for the CD. Very nicely done, Kelley.

Not into religion but, that last part...when she sang "Jesus Christ has risin hallelujah!"...I had goosebumps the size of mountains all over my body!

I had the amazing opportunity to hear her sing this song in person on her CD launch Tomorrow in Charlottetown, PEI June 2011. I bought her CD then and still play that often. Thank you for making the beautiful music Kelley!

@planetery You like so many of organized religion, give christianity a bad name.
-
@planetery Oh, for God's sake (and yours) lighten up. You are way over-reading this. Appreciate that the singer had the goodness to alter the words to fit the faith. The harmonics of this piece have much in common with Ave Maria... are you going to complain about that too ???

@KadyTigerLady Amazing. So I guess you don't know anything about the effects of certain tonalities on the brain, OR of traditional Christian thought on the nature of harmonic intervals, because if you DID you'd know that changing the lyrics of Pagan music doesn't make it all hunky-dory. Christian metal, for instance, is still "evil" music because of the vibrations themselves- what lyrics they spout over them are irrelevant..

@54Seana Actually, it has everything to do with everything, you're just so blase from all your P.C. everything-is-relative programming. The fact that Christians sing this song without a hint of irony is proof that they have NO clue about what their religion is all about OR what Judaism is all about.
