Here are some vintage Showtime promos from August 1981. You'll see:

1. Coming Up Next for Oh, God! Book II
2. Chinatown with Jack Nicholson
3. The Shining, which also has Jack Nicholson
4. Concert promo for Bobby Vinton
5. A promo for the network's Tuesday lineup of The Best of Bizarre, Laff-a-Thon, and the Wacky World of Jonathan Winters.
6. Simon with Alan Arkin
7. Airplane (Surely you know whose in it!)
8. Showtime Take Five intro (forgot the song, unfortunately)
9. Showtime Short "A Memory for the Future" which peers into a bleak future.
10. Tonight on Showtime with Oh, God! Book II, I'll Cry Tomorrow, and Cookie Goes to the Hospital.
11. Showtime Movie Presentation intro
12. Ratings bumper (PG)
13. Warner Bros. logo

Enjoy my first video of 2011!

  • Thanks for posting.. it takes my back! Way back!

  • My pleasure for the way-back trip!

  • this can't be from 1984, it's from 1981, since Some of Them Were Released in 1980, Showtime used the We Make Excitement campaign in 1984.

  • Info for this was hard for me to find, so I'll correct it.

  • And thanks for the correction.

  • Thanks for posting...I watched this at my dad's apartment when it aired... I was 8 years old ....this was the first time I ever saw The Shining and A clockwork orange....

  • Wow I think this is from the weekend we first got cable at our house.

  • @debgibsonfan We already had a VCR in '82 and this!

  • Showtime was the greatest between 81-83.....before I got a vcr.

  • go find some pay per view previews from the 80s and 90s

  • And this was still in Showtime's "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet!" era.
