Video from BBC via http://thatisimpressive.com
Prince William has landed a Sea King helicopter on water as part of a demonstration of a search and rescue manoeuvre which is carried out in Canada.

Video from BBC
The prince was watched by crowds who braved the rain to see his flying skills in Dalvay-by-the-Sea. The Duchess of Cambridge was also watching from dry land.

Canada is the only country which trains its Sea King pilots to perform 'waterbird' landings and the duke performed it for the first time.

  • yea its a sea-king but they fucking ran out of money so they covered it in tape to make it water-proof stupid fucking reporter

  • @buckeyenut39 There are only two "sensors" (I assume you are thinking of the submersion actuators) one is above the pilots head, the other at the bottom of the flight compartment (Both internal). The tape is used to secure all panels that aren't particularly waterproof (The nose bay and battery bay above it for example). The other duct tape is used to mask up the ground power connections, and vents from tanks (Fuel tanks etc)

BTW...I'm a SEAKING ENGINEER for the Royal Navy...Just Saying...

  • @SNS8R03 ....the sea king will do search and rescue while deployed with its ship, and if required when at base....and just because you live near the base, does not mean you see them do such tasks, or hear about it either. the crews are trained for SAR work and practice it all the time...

  • @bisonturbo I live on the West Coast right next to CFB Esquimalt , theyare rarely to nearly never do search and rescue.

  • @SNS8R03 ....Canadian sea kings do get used for search and rescue....and rarely used for hunting subs.....

  • @phoenix492 very well put show those assholes who dont know shit about this personally i wont waste my time well said :D

  • I feel sorry for the engineers that had to do the preparation and recovery maintenance for this little evolution. They're the ones that make it all happen.

  • @TheMerlinianWhite IT'S NOT DUCK TAPE! It's for taping DUCTS, geddit?

  • modified... that's a way to put it

  • Notice the yellow duck tape quite obviously to stop water getting into the sieve like helicopter..

  • I would so blow the ultimate load deep inside of Kates bowels!

  • Any good pilot can do that, its easier than landing on land because you can move forward while landing, its like a really really really slow plane, kinda like landing a toy plane accept your life depends on it.
