Jaron Wiedmaier began working in Moscow in 2002 and knows Russia's good and less good features better than most German executives.

Now Continental's General Director in Russia, he had to accept defeat over the firm's joint venture with Moscow tire company MRF. Continental lost several million euros in 2004 and almost left Russia as a result. Wiedmaier prevented this and successfully restructured the German tire makers Russian business. Head office in Hanover is no longer thinking of pulling out.

BTW Russia in general is a poor fucked up place with a really high crime and homocide rate.

Homocide rate in Russia 15 per 100'000 inhabitants (meaning of of 100'000 people 15 are murdered, in comparison the homocide rate in Germany for instance lies at 0,84 , Japan 0,83 , Austria 0,56.

This is a beautiful story of trust, competition, profits, savagery, and primitive technology. Could they not pack more people in those cities? It think it should be law that every apartment is 300 stories tall. Every highway should be 30 lanes wide, and there should be outlaw gangs on every street who drive Segways with American built V-8 engines.

Ich habe famile in Deutchland, I grow up many summers there, my uncle worked at "Michelin"o_o fabric! (factory) he walked a few miles to and from work like this man, good exercise too.Autobahn,Germany's Interstate good discipline like Nascar everyday. Natural food=all you need like only country farms.

Many in U S less ethics,disciplines, bad TV examples,junk foods, any additives= people fat, bad decisions everyday + some corporations love more chaos = we all hurt + spend money 24 hours a day.

@ThirdRomeAquilo Not very likely! You see, in UK (especially Britain), you can move around town freely at any time of the day or night in relative peace. Politicval leaders are not accompanied with excessive armed entourage (unlike in Russia or its near neighbor, the Balkans etc). Why is the Russian president's limousine heavily armoured? i aint know if people can roam the streets freely in Russia. There are a lot of gangster mafias in Russia (unlike in Britain). Maybe in N.I. there are.
