I've seen a lot of gimmics at church over the years...this tops them all. Some pastors, evangelists, speakers, just feel the need to blow audiences away with powerful illustrations.
This may have fit somewhere into his sermon, but...I don't know...could you imagine Christ pulling a stunt like this to get His disciples energized about His message? Not me.
He did this to illustrate the power that little compromises in our lives have to open us up to destructive power. Much like the tiny needles used by a tazer can drop a 300 lb. Turk in 5 seconds...
