Fort Hays State hosted #3 ranked Northwest Missouri State on Saturday (Oct. 31) in Hays. The Bearcats defeated the Tigers 66-40, as the teams combined for 1,125 yards of total offense. Northwest Missouri State had 636 yards of total offense and Fort Hays State had 489 yards of total offense.
Out of the 489 yards of total offense by FHSU, 381 came through the air courtesy of quarterback Mike Garrison. Garrison threw for four touchdowns on 31-of-46 passing, but NWMSU intercepted him three times, including one that went back for a touchdown. Garrison spread the ball around well with eight players making receptions in the game. Anthony Smith led the team with seven catches for 88 yards. Cordarol Scales had four catches for 85 yards and his first two touchdowns of the season.
Jacobb Irvin led the Tiger rushing attack with 58 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. James Walker finished with 34 yards on 13 carries.
