  • I'm a Brit who has never been to the States, but I know what a colossus this man was. I am ashamed that many of my fellow Brits couldn't understand why the BBC devoted so much airtime to honour him.

  • Cronkite taught other reporters to make it up when the story did not go along with your personal views. He taught Dan Rather and other younger people to never allow the truth stand between you and a good story.

  • R.I.P. Walter. You were great in The Odd Couple, Grumpy Old Men and Dennis the Menace. The Odd Couple will now be reunited in Heaven, as John Lennon is already there waiting.
