When my papillons were puppies, they were very much into shredding junk mail and credit card applications. I trained them to stop but I didn't have to buy a paper shredder for the longest while.

@traprainmusic WOW! She is one smart Poppy! My Toby doesn't like the mailman and will sit in the window and bark like crazy because he's there dropping in the mail. At least my parents know when the mail arrives. All Paps are intelligent in what they are taught to do, and I really applaud your Poppy for learning all that she has.

Awww! Im getting our little I think 5-week old papillon puppy. We visited them when they were 3 weeks and they were adorable. One of them slept on my shoe haha.
Is it easy to train these dogs? How do you train em?

Your Poppy looks exactly like my 8 yr. old Pap (Toby), and she could be his twin sister. LOL! How old is she? I wish I could train my Toby pick up the mail, like yours!

@PaulieDi Poppy is also about 8yrs old,i don't know exactly as she was a rescue dog.It only took a day to teach her to get the mail,the video was made in the first week.Now when she hears the mail van she goes to get the mail without me asking and brings it to me wherever i am in the house.Best of all she only brings me the letters and leaves the junk mail!!It was quite easy to train her as she already knows how to fetch my mobile,hat, socks,her brush and ball.I use a clicker and treats

I lost my little min. schn. last August and tho I also have two beautiful golden retrievers, I miss having a little lap dog. Im seriously considering a pap. How are they with strangers? I want him to become a therapy dog, like my two others.

Paps are usually friendly, but it depends on the individual dog's temprement and how it is trained.They are easy to train and very eager to please.

My pap is very friendly, initially shy with strangers but warms up quickly. Socialize early, select with temperment in mind, and you will hopefully have a nice little therapy lap dog. Smart and very easy to train.
