when i refer to "empty samples" at 1:05 it would have been more accurate / useful instead to call them "empty notes", since what i'm referring to are notes recorded in the pattern sequencer, NOT samples. these empty notes are what trigger and replay the actual samples recorded later in the process. apologies for confusion.
also didn't mention it but the great thing is we can prepare up to 16 different patterns for auto-loop recording this way and save / copy them as templates for future use (using the software editor). meaning we really only have to do this set up stuff thoroughly once and from that point on can jump right into auto-looping without delay as soon as we turn the MS on.

for more information on how i modified the MS to accept a standard keyboard sustain pedal as a footswitch trigger for the sampling button, detailed instructions here: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=58698
to me the MicroSampler seems a very unique little instrument with a lot of interesting / exciting unexplored possibilities for anyone willing to approach it with a creative, adaptable spirit, so hope this helps
I bought my MS when they first came out, my doesn't have a foot switch input :-(

@AASTRANGE you need to make a (relatively simple) DIY modification to use a foot switch with the MS - check out the full video description for a tutorial link :)
