I've seen several videos of him performing this poem, and normally everyone laughs because they are English speakers. I note that it looks harder to read it when the laughter isn't forthcoming. Oh, the woes of reading without response. :( But good for him to do it anyway.

@sesamsys Actually asteriskasterisk is absolutely correct. There are almost no cell phones in Japan with the option to disable the shutter noise on the camera. A quick google search would inform you of as much. Not to mention Wired magazine had an article about it

Just a note on the camera noises; in Japan it is legally required for digital cameras and cell phone cameras to make noises when taking a picture, with no option to disable the noise, so as to discourage upskirt shots and the like in crowded, public places.

You're wrong on that, digital cameras can be set to silent mode. That's exactly why I worded the info the way it is.
