  • Fairport turned me onto folk, though at 16 I didn't realise it.

At 56 now, I have just had a practice with my folk band and am having a glass whilst trawling old folk music.

    Bliss!!!!!

  • Fairport Convention was absolutely THE finest British folk / rock groups of all time. Saw them in Boston in '70-'71. Sandy Denny had NO match and never will---what a truly tragic loss of incredible & irreplaceable young talent. Liege & Lief was by far their best album in my "opinion". Tam Lin & Matty Groves are timeless classics. Hard to imagine how many years have past by and still how incredibly great they were then, now and always will be! RIP--Sandy Denny---you'll always be beautiful.

  • Learned it as a child at my mothers breast- now at 40 it is as real and as vital as it ever was ( to me)------I wish this would play about me as I wander in the trees.............. simply perfect!

  • 40 years old and as fresh as paint!!

  • One of the best ever.

  • The entire Liege & Lief LP wafts through the psyche as a Green Dream of organic wood and strings with sweet Sandy as spice on top. WBCN in Boston used to play the crap out of this in '71. I still roll it out today albeit on sterile CD. The vinyl says in wraps.

  • Sorry, that should have been about 40 years!!!!

  • Haven't heard this for about 45 years and it's still as good as ever.

  • @marcinjersey66 Hearing this song on WFMU was what got me into this band!

  • This song gives me goose bumps.

  • WFMU, A FREE-FORM RADIO STATION IN NJ. wfmu.org and 91.1 FM in Northern NJ, plays this song often.

  • when i was little i used to sing this tune with never having even heard the song. it was just something that came to me. when by chance i was in a bad place this song comes on. i had never heard it. sandy and i also share a birthday and middle name. its kind of bizarre seeing as i am a 16 year old in the physical. i dunno guess its fate
