Again a very nice report, Drax! And I think SL is just like the 'real' world. How high is the percentage of people who realy care and do something about any injustice? I wonder if I do enough.

We, the so called 'kids', do use it to communicate, organize, consume and escape. Of course not every person on Teen Second Life is going to try and do something educational there, but 1) how many actual opportunities are out there for youth? 2) Are you sure that all thatoffline education (and that goes for Tec de M, too) does is try to tell you that you're good if you're the richest person out there?

How did I come across this? <.< Anyway... I'll rebounce the question: How many adults actually use the digital media for a social change WITHOUT counting those that actually make money out of those practices?

Nice report!
I'm unclear on what you mean by "half empty"? It seemed to be quite well attended given the somewhat obtuse title and limited outreach.
Ben Barber does kind of come off like an idiot. I have to agree with Prok on that one.
Rik, thanks for the kind words. I used the term half-empty to provoke a conversation about what events in SL draw the masses :). While Prof. Barber might have come across as possibly a little ignorant about how many great conversations are happening in SL in regards to RL issues, his point is a valid one: do young people really use this to communicate and organize or to consume and escape? How much do we have to still do to make this a valid tool for debating relevant issues on a global scale?
