A protester of speed cameras in Phoenix claims he was attacked by an employee who maintains the cameras, and he has the video the prove it.

Camerfraud.com has been protesting speed and red light cameras since they were installed. One group member says things became violent at a recent protest.

That member, identified as "DT", said he was near the intersection of Priest and Broadway in Tempe when the attack took place.

"I was there about an hour and nothing happened and then the van driver gets out basically attacks me," DT said.

The driver of the van was an employee of RedFlex, the company who owns and runs the cameras.

The driver allegedly told DT that his protest sign was blocking the camera.

"He reaches, grabs the sign and just throws it on the ground," DT said.

What the employee of RedFlex didn't know was that DT was wearing his own camera and started recording what was happening.

"I kept asking him why he did it if he admits that he did it and he just kept saying 'yeah' i took the sign out of your hand," DT said.

Tempe police were called to the scene and filed a report.

But a few weeks later, DT got a letter saying the case was dismissed.

Inside that letter, he said there was a money order for $35, the cost to replace the sign.

"That's not acceptable if I went out and touched the driver or I touched the van itself I would have been handcuffed and arrested that night, it's a double standard," DT said.

ABC15 contacted RedFlex and a representative said they were not aware of any such attack.

They told ABC15 that they would be looking into the situation and investigating whether or not any further actions would need to take place and that they didn't condone violence by any of their employees.

As for "DT", he said this attack makes him think twice about any further protests.

Just curious, who'd the check come from? The city? The Prosecuter's office? Redflex?

Hard to deny knowledge of the incident if you had to cut a check for it.
