This was one of my gcse music compositions under the genre of Britpop - All instruments (excluding drum machine) are played by me and all is an original composition by me.

  • I'm doing a britpop piece and my main instrument is drums. I'm finding it really hard to get research for the controlled assesment sheet. I need to comment of the purpose of the piece (which is a grade piece and has no lyrics) and the role my instrument plays :S Any advice?

Nice piece btw, what grade did you get? :)

  • @LemonyEmilyXD Ah sorry for taking so long to reply, ermm i didnt actually do my exams on drums even though im a drummer i did them on guitar, for the exact reason your mentioning, its hard commenting on musicality of drums. But i would mention everything that just seems to be obvious, you will still get marks for mentioning it, for example the drums keep the rhythm... yes really that obvious, and i think i got an A for my compositions.

    Sam.

  • what instrimunts did you use

  • @CDH015 Ermm, I used a bass (vox standard bass), a guitar (Danelectro U2), a Drum machine (software - cant really remember what i was using at this point :p ) and a Midi controller keyboard hooked up to kontakt player with an organ plugin - cant remember which one. Pretty simple really, i just achieved the sound with few instruments by layering it alot and thats probably why you couldn't pick them out. If that helps? :)

  • best GCSE composition on youtube so far! very well done :)

  • @ints13 Oh shit i havn't been on youtube in ages. But as for the comment :D thankyou that is a lovely compliment although i dont agree :p Since GCSE's iv moved to drums anyway and find myself alot more natural to the instrument that i am and was at guitar. But i guess rating the composition isn't how well its played but the piece itself so thankyou i will take the compliment :D
