They're teens in high school and they act like it (as opposed to shows where the teens are 16 going on 30).
What more does a relationship need in high school beyond liking each other and being hot for each other?
They have common friends, share their interests, talk, hang out, make out, go to school.
It's mostly physical/chemical at that age. You meet someone, think they're sexy, spend time with them, maybe fall in love.
It's still very new and they're still getting to know each other.

Its silly how people use Freud's theory to claim that homosexuality is a disorder. Freud referred to homosexuality as a disorder only on the basis of its being a social deviation; as a matter of fact Freud stated that human beings are bisexual inherently. The failure to suppress homosexual impulses within the unconscious leads to disorder since homosexuality was considered immoral in Freud's day and age.(well i am being concise here)
