Hitler's Children: Sacrifice 5 of 5

This great five-volume series, by Guido Knopp, examines the naivete of German youths in the 1930's and 1940's. This is the only documentary I have seen that focuses on the way the Nazis used children to conduct their war. In the final segment of the series, we get to hear how the Hitler Youth were disillusioned as they were sent to the front lines to fight Hitler's war. Some of them reached the front at the ripe old age of 12 years.

Many hitler youth went to concentration camps after teh war. The allies took them. The allies showed tehm videos off concentrarion camp life. They did their best to de-nazify them.

Hitler: that was the guy the parents, the children, the German people cheared for. The man who murdered the people of Jewish faith, the gypsies, the disabled children, men and women, the ones who were agains the nazi regime... and ultimately he murdered his own people to. They could have seen it comming, isn't it? But stil, it is a tragedy and I can not imagine how it feels to be betrayed like the German kids were. I can only hope that they sincere feel for all the victims of the nazi regime!

One of the saddest things I have ever seen is when I lived in Berlin and was walking through my local park in Wedding and myself and my friend came across some mass graves marked "Unbekantish Berlineren" / Unknown Berliners. The graves dated from the end of the war. The Soviet graveyard was also a horrible thing to witness.
