2009 George H. Scanlon Lecturer: Sol Madridejos Fernandez has worked with J.C. Sancho Osinaga for twenty-five years, starting first at BAU ARCHITECTS in 1983 and subsequently co-founding their own studio, SANCHO-MADRIDEJOS ARCHITECTURE OFFICE (S-M.A.O.), Madrid, in 1997. S-M.A.O. has obtained numerous prizes in both national and international competitions including First Prize for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Alicante, and a Madrid City Council Prize for Urbanism. S-M.A.O.'s built projects include the University Pavilion, Murcia, Spain; the Police Station in Manacor, Mallorca; and the Parish Center, Pinto, Madrid, Spain, among others. Ms. Madridejos Fernandez' professional activity is complemented by her engagement in education as a tenured professor at the European University of Madrid. Ms. Madridejos Fernandez lectured on "Latest Works" in Spanish with an English translation.
