I think "friends with benefits" is pretty great for my lifestyle. It just requires someone you trust who has similar values. I don't get jealous when my current boytoy fucks other women. I'm not the type to get emotionally attached to anyone and I find spending too much time with people stressful; having a boyfriend grinds me down because he always expects more than I can give. Anyway, I think you're generalizing and there are probably more women like me than you would think.

@relmneiko I'm gonna put this the only way I can. I'm open minded and rational enough to realize I'm just 25 years old and there's more to the world than I've personally seen. That said, I have never in my life seen a situation like yours work, and every time I've ever heard someone say what you're saying (which is many, many times) it always ends badly. I used to believe. I no longer do.

Yeah there's the biological element, but you can't deny the social element is also strong - women are socialized to put more value in relationships than men and are shamed for unattached sex. And the existence of (female) prostitutes has a lot to do with power structures - most men don't get whores just because they want to fuck, they do it because they get a power trip from it, and that has a lot to do with systematic inequality between men and women.

@linzerdinzertv I completely agree. In my (fewer) years, I have never seen a friends with benefits EVER work. It always leads to one growing possessive in some form and then leads to stress, tension between the two and/or the loss of a friendship. Sex does not come without emotional attachment.

It will always happen eventually. One night stand? Completely different.

I agree, but I am also religious, so it's sex AFTER marriage, my argument's something like: yeah I have high standards, I don't do it with just anyone, so Ima do the socializing and whatnot and if I find someone I'd like to live my whole life with, Ima do the paperworks first and then go for it.
