One of the great tunes of the 70's disco scene and a fan dancer delight!

it's so hypnotic & driving & then that gut churning break just bangs u over the head taking the production into the ssstratosphere. love it.

Anche questo è stato clonato dal "povero" (((raf)))

Thats really disco:-))

Generally, I hate covers, and anything done first by Marvin Gaye would pretty much insure that all following versions can't even come close. But not in THIS case. This version RULES. It is plain FIERCE, one of those 70's dance grooves, that just carries you on the floor. But I never knew David Todd mixed this. The man was a GENIUS. Catacombs Forever, 12 & Walnut, you will always be my REAL CHURCH.

I never heard of this song until now (2011) and I like it very much. Always glad to learn of rare disco music. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for the beautiful memories. I have been searching for this tune for 30 years and for the heck of it I googled Buffalo Smoke. We danced the night away in Minneapolis to this tune. My ex-wife trashed all my vinyl when we broke up. Yet memories of this song stuck with me through the years.
The song is a reworking of Marvin Gaye's first big hit "Stubborn Kind of Fellow", and was played extensively at Blackpool Mecca UK - in 1976, NOT 1978 - and six months before Studio 54 even OPENED!
Buffalo Smoke was a vehicle for veteran Soul singer and songwriter Lou Courtney.

The version which was played extensively at Blackpool Mecca as you say is the first Lou Courtney version in hustle rhythm'n'blues style released in '76. However here you can listen to the special Disco mix released in '78 !
Lou Courtney reworked his '76 version with Disco arrangements.
Courtney was already famus in the '60's with 5th Dimension band.
