A drive from Toronto to Omemee, ON - where Neil Young spent his early years. They have a great cafe, a hardware store with a fantastic selection of secondhand records in the back, and a Neil Young museum...

  • 4:24 my brother built that house

4:42 that house behind the pine tree is neil youngs old house (house in middle of shot)

5:01 the beach is usually fenced off...covered in bird shit and the water is HORRIBLE

5:30 the building on the left side is the police and fire station....if the like 2 cops are on patrol theres a sign on the door saying no ones there...no joke

  • @theboredredneck

    Thanks for all the info!

  • omg!!!! that video brought back soooo many memories for us, we lived in Rita Crescent in Omemee for 2 years while i was on a working visa, sadly from the resession we had to move back to the U.K, we miss it all very much, aswell as all our friends in Lindsay, and Peterborough, thank you for your video it's now on my Fave's :-)

  • Brilliant! Glad you enjoyed it, did you ever go to the Neil Young Museum?

  • maybe i missed the point of the video but... You drove the longest route to get from toronto to omemee. You drove past his old house and didnt show it at all. You were about 5 min from his house when he moved out of town and didn't go there either. You drove through town but from all different angles.. which makes it awkward to watch. Also the public school is named after his family. drove right past it as well. just throwing it that out there.

  • It wasn't my intention to get there as quickly as possible. Nor to make a VH-1 style documentary. Thanks for watching anyway.

  • The house shown at 4:42 is NOT where neil young lived, it is where his FATHER lived. The family farm where Neil grew up is just outside of Omemee on the west side.

  • @youwho12341 Maybe he didn't know what house Neil lived in or where Scott Young's farm was or even that Scott had a scholl named after him.

  • I'm off to Omemee tommorrow. No video camera though.

  • Thanks for the video. I travelled a different route to Omeeme last week. Thanks for getting a clip of Sugar Mountain. There is a better picture of it on Ski Hill Road. Too bad they do not allow videos of the inside of Youngtown Museum. I was told Neil lived on the Main Street on Hwy 7 just down from the Museum. You should have got a video of the amazing old bridge in Omemee. Thanks!

  • Get your facts straight I lived in Omemee all my life and I cant figure out why people always think that Neil Young lived on the main street by the bridge . He did not I know this for a fact he lived at the west end of town I know this for a fact my brother in law used to hang out with Bob ,Neils brother....He actually lived not to far where the Scott Young Public School is...

  • wow, i remeber good ol omemee, my mother used to deliver mail to neils mother back in the early 90's like 1991 it was on RR1 Omemee is what it was called back then, dont know what they call it now, we lived on Emily Mannor Drive just off 7 between lily lake rd and Parkhill rd,

  • I ilved near Omemee on Pigeon River between 63 and 80. It was always a quiet mysterious town. I recall Artwill Marine and Whitmores grocery where you'd see Scott Young occasionally.
