Watch Ron Paul give a stump speech with a little more context. As VH1 did with music videos, we added pop-up bubbles and animation to excerpted segments of standard Iowa speeches from top GOP candidates — embellishments that we hope will give you a better sense of the candidates and how they're selling themselves to voters. Part of an ongoing series. See more on NPR.org: http://n.pr/tzn3SX
@deeppurple28 No one should have rights. Those are made up to enslave people. Woman has equally choice as men.

@npr
Yon mentioned Ludwig von Mises a couple times earlier in the video, I think he would have been extremely relevant when the topic of economic growth and spending are in question. It is certainly one of his specialties. He was 'one of the closest economic advisers of Engelbert Dollfuss, the austrofascist but strongly anti-Nazi Austrian Chancellor', and was intimately familiar with how spending can destroy an economy.

@deeppurple28 You bring up the core of the issue: so many Americans don't care enough about what politicians do. What Ron Paul causes, by default, by putting more power into the state, is that citizenry will HAVE to care about what their local government is doing in their name. It's only scary to think about because the US is WAY out of practice in thinking individually, and becoming active in their communities. So many just pay taxes and hope for the best. That's sad.

@Jeredin13 Think about it for just a second, I don't mean to just talk crap but really, think about it! Under Ron Paul's America, since Rick Perry is a Governor, Rick Perry would have the say in what a Woman should do with her unwanted Pregnancy. Yeah that's the last thing we need, for Rick Perry to dictate what women should do with their uterus! But I Thought that Ron Paul wanted Government out of our lives? WHAT GIVES?

@deeppurple28 I can understand your fear of giving more power to states, rather than "big government," but great powers shouldn't be centralized as it is--for reasons that would take too long to debate over the internet. States can and will make mistakes, but then learn from them. Every state has different regional needs and wants, and the government needs to respect them. Some medicines aren't right for everyone.

@nightsmoke3337 Oh yes lets overlook women's rights, who cares about a woman's choice right? Liberty you say?

@deeppurple28 When theres more pressing matters at hand im sure this is something we can look over for now...

@Jeredin13 Oh yes he protects rights, except when it comes to a woman's uterus! wRong Paul wants to strike down Roe V Wade and allow states to dictate what a woman should do with her unwanted pregnancy! Oh yes that's the thing we want. we want Rick Perry to dictate what women should do with their uterus! Liberty indeed!

@deeppurple28 I happen to be an atheist and still think he's one of the smartest in our government; he protects my rights to be atheist. Religion tends to be family driven and honestly, some people that specialize in certain fields don't explore or question religion/origins, when they have more pressing matters that will effect their life, or others. No one is perfect--including Ron Paul, but he's better than anyone else on both sides of the aisles.
