I created this video as a preview video for my squadron to hopefully get them interested in Rise of Flight.

After I saw the track for the first time however, I figured that "Death of the Red Baron" was a more appropriate naming.

Red baron plane is set to Ace and his brother is set to Veteran.

  • how did u get it to show the crashed airplane all mine does is disappear

  • @cut76

I believe it has to deal with your graphics settings. Mine are set mostly full. Explain more in detail?

  • What is KNOWN is that MvR was killed by a single bullet. Whether that was from Browns' gun or ground fire is an open question. All conclusions can only be drawn from probability, possibility, and speculation.

  • @Halkalooki

That is exactly true. The death of the Red Baron has been a highly debated topic over the years. I have done extensive research on it myself and have come to the conclusion that he was killed by none other than Lieutenant Roy Brown from a single bullet coming from his .303 caliber machine gun mounted on his sopwith camel.

The research on file for the event is filled with bad medical reports and claims from various branches of the military.

    S~ to all.

  • @Jawbrkr21 bullshit. He was shot down by a grounded machine gun. Don't read propaganda books, try history books. Javexer is right.

  • well, that was inaccurate...the red baron was shot down by an Australian manned vickers gun on the ground, not an aircraft

  • @JoKeRpRiNcE2 Too bad you are completely wrong. He was flying a Fokker DR.I on the day of his death, and for 19 victories prior to that. The last aerial victory in an Albatross D.III was nearly a year before.

  • @joeswizard No, it isn't. That is a Fokker Dr. I, and he flew an Albatross D-II, and later upgraded to the Albatross D-III. Those were both bright red.

  • @JoKeRpRiNcE2 yes it is i read alot about this stuff

  • That also isn't the plane the Red Baron flew.

  • @ctfxcplane thank you

  • @lemsterterror1 Yes. Fokker DR. 1

  • Is this game available for ps3??

  • non the less the red Barron was a excellent dog fighter.

his plane was a fokker right??? (thank you holland)

  • @lebarosky

And judging by the "debate" here, I'd say many WWI flight enthusiasts still have a hard time swallowing the fact that the greatest ace of the war was shot down by some machine gunner on the ground or even some unknown rifleman. Ordinary infantrymen did sometimes shoot at low flying planes, which is why trench strafing was risky (and armour plating was added to those late "trench attack fighters"). A volley of rifle fire from infantry was a minor threat to WWI planes.

  • @lebarosky

Well for us it's irrelevant, but at the time the mere thought the the greatest ace of the war was shot down by some common machine gunners on the ground was seen as an "unworthy ending". Even Richthofen's living relatives refused to believe anybody other than Roy Brown had shot the baron down. Since he was a nobleman that would be akin to a medieval knight getting killed by another knight rather than a peasant with a long pike (the infantry on the ground).
