For anyone who thinks this makes spectators more suspicious, I used it at a gig over the weekend and I got a few comments on how nice the pen was but that was it. Nobody knew that it was a Sharpie and nobody cared. They took the pen, wrote on the card and I put the pen away. The pen is not the focus of the routine, it's a subtle way of saying "I'm a successful magician that can afford nice things."

I understand what you're saying about the professional look. However, don't you believe that if you bring out something foreign to your audience members, albeit professional, that it will arouse slight suspicion, even with the correct patter? I believe using items that are recognizable by an audience will lend more power to the effects one performs.

@SiAugust23 Good point, but it still looks like a pen. If you say write on this and hand someone a pen, are they more likely to say "nice pen" than get thrown off by it. This is product is not for everyone. If you perform with more of a grungy Criss Angel style, a Sharpie fits, but if you're in a three piece suite and you're trying to look more professional, a plastic Sharpie might look out of place.

Hm. I think it looks unnatural. People don't expect a sharpie in this shell.

An elegant looking pen that writes on cards would be more useful, I think.

@borstenpinsel When it's all put together, this looks like an elegant looking pen that writes on cards. It's like a nice fountain pen with a Sharpie tip. If you think about it, it's very clever because instead of having to buy special refills (which can get expensive and hard to find) you refill it with a standard Sharpie.

@magicgeekinc Not saying does not mean not thinking. Most spectators are too polite to say anything. I think the cover is pointless as using a regular sharpie is better and offers zero chance of suspicion.

Actually it could draw suspicion and scream "gimmicked pen." I would much rather use a regular looking sharpie as it is organic and not a distraction from the effect. But maybe that is just the over-analytical mind of an over-thinking magician.

I bought a stainless steel sharpie at staples. Really nice, and really cheap.

People dont think about it as a sharpie just think about it as a beautiful permanent marker. Presentation is everything when it comes to magic, even the tiny little things, if you brought this out of your pocket when getting someone to sign a card it will look far more profesional than if you brought out a plain sharpie although there is nothing wrong with just using a sharpie itself. I guess it just come down to preference

Make it a gimmick to a trick and ill buy it. Other then that im an old fashion type of guy. + this shell blocks my Six Of Clubs sharpie.
