The Shining - Jack Nicholson [A Drawing by Karthik Abhiram]

A drawing of Jack Nicholson from the classic horror movie "The Shining", directed by Stanley Kubrick.

This is from the famous scene where Jack goes totally nuts with an axe and says - "Heeere's Johnny!". Apparently the line was ad libbed by Nicholson.

Drawn with a 6B pencil primarily. I shot the video with my Nokia N8 phone and as a matter of fact, since my scanner wasn't working, I photographed the drawing also with my phone.

I tried to imitate the opening credits of the movie in my video (the font and the scrolling). Of course, since I don't have ready access to a helicopter and a steadicam, there are no smooth aerial shots over mountains :)

Dude, How did you get so perfectly good at shading?!

@TheeOneWhoTalks It comes with practice. What I do is take a soft pencil (I use 6B) and keep building up the darks. First I very lightly establish where everything is and places that need to be shaded dark - and then keep building up. Perhaps not perfect but this works for me...
