This is one of my favorite song from The Pogues. This track was recorded in 1984, for the album "Red roses for Me".

Enjoy !

  • Heard this one night on the Simpsons!

  • @OztarAntoine Small correction:

Ass = tóin, which becomes thóin after mo (my), do (your, sing.) and a (his). For example after ár (our) it becomes dtóin, yea Irish can be complicated ;-))

  • @Specsand

    Yep it was

  • I love that in the pogues version of this song the ship's Captain is grieved more by the loss of the boats than the men.

  • Fine drinking song!

There is a new genre created by an artist called "Rummelsnuff". It´s the "german industrial shanty". For example "Salzig schmeckt der Wind".

  • Th Seashanty is the tune, up down!!
