House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) answers the top five questions submitted by the YouTube community following the bipartisan health care summit. User-submitted questions are listed below:

What is the explicit reasoning behind mandating the purchase of healthcare services?

- Chris, University of Florida

Do you believe that healthcare is a right, or that health insurance is a right?

- Brian, Student

Thompson Reuters had performed a study in which they concluded that 40% of healthcare waste was from unnecessary care. Unnecessary care is primarily a result of a fear of being sued, aka malpractice. What is being done to address malpractice?

- JatPat, Chicago, IL

Why not quit artificially limiting the market? Stop tying health insurance to employers and increase the market dramatically. Allow insurance providers to sell across state lines and increase it even more. The larger the market the lower the price.

- crodgers1981, Lincoln, NE

All people voting on these bills should be required to personally read the entire bill before being allowed to vote on it. It is ridiculous that these bills are thousands of pages long. Bills should be written in clear language.

  • He is a politician and his lips are moving, so you can reasonably assume that he is lying.

  • Why do Republicans talk about "the government" as a bad thing? In a Democracy "the government" implements "the will of the majority." Conclusion: Republicans don't want to implement "the will of the majority." Republicans represent the interests of the rich and big business alone. Why do people vote for them? Bigotry.

  • @ast453000 The United States is a constitutional republic.A democracy is 2 alligators and a chicken deciding who will be lunch.

  • @ast453000 this is the pot calling the kettle black. Democrats have no will to implement "the will of the people" when it's not in their favor. Funny how the double standard always applies when it comes to left wing politics.

  • @ast453000 Get your empty head out of websters dictionary and into the real world where Logic, actions and behavior apply. Youre like a communist telling me to look up the defination of Communism and ignore all the dead bodies. You sound like an idiot. 'rule of people" means what? Throw out the bill of rights because 51% of people are on the payroll of the other 49.

  • @cozyfoxstudio Hi. Sorry, Democracy is a form of government. It comes from the Greek "demokratia" which means "rule of the people". It's not a matter of 'logic'; it's a matter of what these words mean. And there are not "a lot of definitions". It is possible to look these words up in a dictionary. I suggest the OED, but Webster's is fine too.

  • @mallensr Hi. A 'Republic' is not a form of government. The word comes from the Latin "res publica", which simply means "public thing." However, in modern times it has come to be associated with representative democracy. In particular, it does not mean "rule of law". Totalitarian states, like the former USSR also operated by "rule of law". The only difference is who decides what the laws are: the many (as in a democracy) or the few (as in an oligarchy, or dictatorship).

  • @ast453000 By that logic a Democracy isn't a form of government either. There are a lot of definations. You found one to support your ideology. Congradulations. America has this thing called a constitution which has been trampled on by Progressive Republicans and Democrats who have misled the people for a long time. As for the USSR I guess those laws didnt protect the people from the minority as I fear is happening to America. I'm sticking with our founders.

  • @cozyfoxstudio A 'Republic' is not a form of government. The word comes from the Latin "res publica", which only means "public thing". However, in modern times it has come to be associated with representative democracy. Re your second point: how do you think those laws were passed? They were passed by a majority of representatives who were elected by a majority, i.e. they were passed democratically. Please note that in USSR the people were also "protected by laws from the will of the majority".

  • "The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many" - Politicians version of Spock's famous and historical quote. I'd like to think that in nature, the Queen takes care of its' workers, just like in the insect world. However, in human life we are predominantly ruled by Kings, or some other form of alpha male. So the opposite may be true and in fact we are not taken care of by our Queen; We are screwed by our King(s). Such is life and the struggle will continue, that's for sure.

  • John is COOL! Keeping some class in America.

Don't let go to Obama and the rednecks!
