Primera película que pretende contar, en su complejidad, el golpe de estado de 1981. Desde la toma del congreso, usada como arranque, hasta la liberación de los diputados, se reviven las diecisiete horas y media que hicieron temblar los cimientos de una joven democracia. Por un lado, Tejero y sus hombres. De otro, el Rey que desde su despacho, intenta contener al ejército y organizar las fuerzas civiles. En medio, un complejo entramado donde Milans y Armada mueven los hilos. Con todo un país, al fondo, que vive pendiente de la radio y la televisión.
'23F' es la historia de tres golpes. El de Milans, el de Armada y el de Tejero. Tres modelos que fracasan cuando, borracho de poder en el Palacio de Congresos, Tejero empieza a entender que lo han utilizado...

From 1996 to 2004 Spain had a right of centre government, so hardly leftist. Also, a centre-left government from 1982 to 1996 delivered the best economic growth in Spain for over 50 years. You describe Felipe Gonzalez as 'radical left' - don't make me laugh. Gonzalez presided over privatisations of previously state owned industries that were nationalised by Franco. The people behind the coup attempt wanted to return Spain to an autarky which was a hindrance to capitalism and economic growth.
